Petr earned his degree in Organic Chemistry at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (Czech Republic), where he also obtained his PhD degree in the field of supramolecular chemistry. He spent his postdoc at the University of York (UK), in the research group of Prof. David Smith where he was studying supramolecular hydrogels and their use for catalysis and stabilization of highly reactive compounds.

During his studies and postdoctoral internship, he was involved in various projects in different areas of chemistry and different parts of the world, including the Czech Republic, Japan, Taiwan, and the UK.
